Ski resorts in popular destinations such as Switzerland, Austria and Italy have been reporting heavier snowfall than usual for this time of year, with up to 130cm on some slopes. This has led to skiers heading off to the pistes soon than usual.

The global economic slowdown and soaring price of fuel have led to a change in demand within the car hire market. Carrentals.co.uk, a price comparison site, has observed a 10% rise in bookings for economical and fuel efficient cars.
More than 50% of this year’s bookings for the company were of cars that fall in the category of 'economy' and 'mini'. This is a considerable difference from the 40% mark in 2007. It throws light on the fact that more and more customers want to cut down their expense on fuel.
